Mommy Mistress Plants the Surprise

Mommy continued telling the love story about her and Daddy and their first date in great detail.  “She let me keep it and I knew that someday, having a legendary little blue box from Tiffany would come in really handy.  Boy, did it ever!  I put the ring inside the box and tied a pretty little black, very thin, satin ribbon around it and put it at the very bottom of the picnic basket.  Then I packed us a really scrumptious, gourmet picnic dinner.  It was a lovely night.  We set out at about three or four in the afternoon, when the shadows are getting long and the sun light is warm and mellow.  We walked along the sandy sidewalk to the ocean, and laid out the blanket.  It was such a balmy day for February!  We could hardly believe our good fortune.  We were both wearing really sweet floral summer dresses with sandals, and little cardigan sweaters that matched our dresses. I told your Dad that he could unpack the basket, since I packed it.  We were very fair like that.  We shared the chores and the work – load equally.  It was such a lovely arrangement we had, really.  So we toasted with a sip of wine.  Then we ate a little bid of bread and cheese with fruit.  And I told your Dad, ‘Sweetie, there is a bit of dessert at the bottom of the basket.’  And he looked past the assortments of cheese and fruit and in the golden light of the sun, found the little blue box.”
