Mommy continued telling the love story about her and Daddy and their budding love. “Yes, once I really began to notice your Grandfather’s little quirks and oddities. Well, then it all started to make sense, and unravel, all at the same time. You see, I think there is some kind of family trait on your Dad’s side that some of the male children possess. Not all of the male children, just some. You see, your Grandpa was quite soft, and easy going. He had a gentle nature about him and was very soft spoken. Your Grandma, on the other hand, was quite bossy and demanding at times. It seemed like there was something there, but I could never quite put my finger on it. I think your Grandma noticed that I was on to something, and I am quite sure that made her feel very exposed and uncomfortable. But, what could I do? I loved your father, very, very much. He was my whole world. I sometimes felt like I couldn’t breathe without him. So when your Grandmother started shrieking and telling us that we would ‘rot in hell,’ I just wanted to get your Dad out of that nonsense. I mean, who tells their child that? Anyway, I am so happy that you are finally old enough to know what really happened between me and your Dad. I have been carrying this for a long, long time. Once you know the truth of all of this, we don’t ever have to speak of it again.”
