My last my pretty sissy blog entry, I was discussing the fact that people cannot be put into neat little boxes. Least of all not sissies! And in the very last sentence of my last blog entry, I mentioned the idea that many people consider themselves to be a third gender. The common name for this third gender is “genderqueer.” Genderqueer is the belief that a person is neither male nor female but rather a blend of both. Many times a person who considers himself or herself to be genderqueer will have the genitalia of either one gender or the other. However, a person who considers himself or herself to be genderqueer may dress and express as the gender opposite their genitalia. And it would seem, that a person who is genderqueer is a walking contradiction. But I would like to pose to you, my pretty sissies, that in some ways, you are probably all just a little bit genderqueer. Am I right? Am I wrong? Tell me what you think! I would love to know your thoughts on the whole idea of being genderqueer. It’s a very powerful idea, and an even more empowering concept to those who have struggled with gender and gender identity all of their lives. If you haven’t yet googled genderqueer, I strongly suggest that you do so. You may find an entire segment of the population that you can identify with, and find comfort in, and actually use as a resource and a coping mechanism.
